Ryan was monarch of the Kingdom of the Isles. He succeeded his father, Patrick. In King of Foxes, he met Talwin Hawkins after he joined Kaspar's service and congratulated him for winning the Contest of Champions and gifted him with a golden sword. Several years later, Pug and Talwin visited him and asked for his assistance in dealing with Leso Varen, which Ryan reluctantly gives. He died prior to the Chaoswar. He was suceeded by his brother, Gregory[1].
